I am still not over Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros…and it’s been two weeks since I finished, it has been living in my mind rent free! Overall I rated this book 5 stars! Check out my full book review below.

Character Growth

Violet’s growth in this book was “violent”. 😏 Truly a baddie in every sense, she stepped up to every challenge and dominated. I loved her in this book! I felt that her character grew exponentially from Iron Flame to this book because Xaden couldn’t step in and be the leader and so she took over the reigns and dominated!

The Quest Squad

The quest squad storyline felt like it had more potential, but it fell a little flat and felt a little rushed. This is not to say there were not some GOOOOD scenes that I gasped at multiple times, I was just hoping for more there. I loved the quest squad that Violet put together and Dain had me laughing so many times. I know that people love to hate him, but feel that Dain has really redeemed himself. I did love how Violet came out swinging both metaphorically and physically in these chapters! I loved that her potions came in to play in this book as well, but she also became a lot stronger of a fighter in this book.

And Ridoc! I loved his humor and the way he fiercely protected Violet and their squad. I loved to see him more in this book, and really hope to see more of him and the rest of the squad in the coming books (but hopefully only good endings because I am still suffering from the loss of Liam!!)

The Romance

Violet and Xaden’s struggle through his venin arc and fight to maintain control, had my heart hurting because I’m a huge softie and just want a happily ever after! 🥲 The spice was okay, I honestly was more invested in the story line so I wasn’t super hung up on the spice in this one.

Overall Review

A lot was left unresolved but you know that was intentional to set us up for the next books in the series, and I for one can not wait! 

I devoured this book in just a few days and rated it a solid 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. 100% here for the vibes, the dragons, and Violet’s character growth.
